Summer This, Summer That (2 of 2)
Short and sweet.
I like that phrase. More often than not, we want things to be short in life: our workdays, commutes, phone calls, meetings, church visits, etc. And sweet: lovers, friends, phone calls (again), drinks (for ladies) and so forth. Of course there are exceptions to this rule, but I hope you will appreciate this short, sweet post detailing the rest of my summer. If you do, leave a short or sweet comment at the bottom. xx.
NOLA is a city with distinct architecture, mouth-watering food, mind-blowing music and the infamous Bourbon St, home of Mardi Gras.
I cut the trip short so I could make it back home in time for the Icon Awards, a celebration of Bahamian excellence. I’d missed the show for two or three years running, and I wanted to be there to support the founder, Addis Huyler (not pictured), for all the amazing work he has been doing. 🙌🏽
As a real estate agent, a big part of the job description is to seek out and meet new people on a regular basis. This has rubbed off on me in my personal life, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a stimulating conversation with someone who can offer a unique perspective. Variety is definitely the spice of life.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, design is one of my big passions. What do you guys think of this minimalist sitting area? Hit or miss?
Another quick Miami trip and this time I stayed in Brickell which is very different from the South Beach scene. The next time you’re in Brickell, check out the new “East” hotel in the Brickell City Centre project.
Of course, the beach (South Beach) is still where it’s at. Here’s a shot of the Living Room in the iconic Faena hotel. Not ashamed to say I’m obsessed with this building and district.
Next up I traveled to Toronto to meet with a developer client and gather information on the Canadian market. Canadians love The Bahamas so what better place to go than Toronto to scout for buyers and brokers to work with? 😊
While in Toronto I connected with another client who invited me to a family barbecue. They live in Forest Hill, one of the most prestigious areas in the city, and cooked up an absolute feast which everyone promptly devoured in this cozy garden on a beautiful summer evening. Definitely of a highlight of the trip.
Another highlight was the tour of the AMAZING lake town of Muskoka, otherwise known as the Hamptons of Canada. The home pictured above was still being worked on, but it had already been sold for a cool $5M. 🤑
Just about every “cottage” (this is the term they use for homes in the area) has a boat house, a small replica of the main house that sits directly on the water.
Lake Muskoka, or heaven. I’m not sure which. 💙
After a week in Canada, it was time to head back to The Bahamas, specifically Harbour Island, for a close friend’s birthday weekend. I can’t remember what made me laugh so hard in this picture. Maybe I was just happy to be back in paradise. ☀️
As I mentioned a couple posts ago, a lovely meal with a great group of friends is truly one of the most special experiences we can have in life. Round up your friends, pick a good restaurant and tag me in a picture or hashtag #ryanknowlesbest. The first three persons to do this get a special gift from RKB. Hint: it comes in a bottle and has lots of bubbles.
If there exists a more beautiful place in the world than The Bahamas, I’ve yet to see it! This view is priceless but the house, located in Ocean Club Estates on Paradise Island, is worth $15M.
